Remember the sensational Jacob Holroyd? We premiered his heavenly debut release ‘Golden Strings’ last May. Since then the Reading-based troubadour has been flying forward in his musical career at quite the pace. He released the marvellously melancholy, ‘Maybe I’ in the summer, and now he is back with third single, ‘Daydream’. And what a dream it is.
‘Daydream’ follows fluently from Holroyd’s previous two releases. The single retains the same romanticised lyricism with equal charm and poignancy. “Is it any wonder that for you I’d give it all, living in that daydream down the hall”, he croons in the chorus, through his soft and modulated tone. Notably, Holroyd has been compared with doomsday dreamer, Matt Maltese. The similarities are self-evident in their 70’s style production and tone. Maltese and Holroyd even share their hometown of Reading.
So what else has Holroyd been up to since May? Well, he’s been working with Chris Alderton of The Amazons again, who produced this latest track. Holroyd has also been touring various venues, from the Purple Turtle in Reading, to the iconic Surf Cafe in Tynemouth. He is making waves, that’s for sure. The singer/songwriter has even had some airplay from BBC Introducing.
Keep an eye out on Holroyd’s Facebook page as he will soon be setting off to tour the UK. And there is an EP in the works for your ears to look forward to as well. For now however, let them feast on the sublime new single ‘Daydream’ which you can listen to below. Enjoy.
