It’d been radio silence from Stormzy for over half a year. Shows cancelled, social media blackout and rumours flying. Then this week it all starts to come hard and fast. A a few cryptic tweets lead to #MERKY billboards popping up across London, and ultimately Thursday evening’s announcement: Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs and Prayer is out in just 3 weeks, with lead single ‘Big For Your Boots’ dropping alongside the news.

Features on the South Londoner’s record cover all bases from grime roots to chart crusher, the most notable being Ghetss, Raleigh Ritchie and MNEK. In regards to the ‘Boots’ video, it’s a borderline Adidas advert, with appearances from Julie Adenuga of Beats fame and up-and-comer Raye. Speaking to Adenuga on her show, Stormzy said: “I had a choice to make the album that I wanted or make the album that I feel people wanted me to make.

Gang Signs and Prayer is out February 24th _ catch ‘Big For Your Boots’ below now.
