Methyl Ethel are an intriguing band. At first listen you’d mistake the three-piece of being fronted by a falsetto-wailing female but watch one of their odd-ball videos and you’ll realise it’s not the case. The Aussie band encapsulate bouncy throwbacks to noughties indietronica MGMT right up to Dutch Uncles in new track ‘Ubu’.

Usually opting for moodier melodies, the latest track from their new album Everything Is Forgotten brings in kicking drums and a momentum building bass to form their catchiest track to date. “Why’d you have to go and cut your hair?” may just be the blandest lyric this year but it’ll be stuck in your head ’til your next trip to the barbers.
