Celeste’s latest release, ‘I Can See The Change‘ is a soulful ballad, full of orchestral elements and a sense of hopeful optimism. Produced by Grammy Award winner and sibling of Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, the track is a slow-paced, beautiful record, vocally reminiscent of Aretha Franklin.
The 25-year-old soul singer won the BBC Sound of 2020 earlier in January, coming out on top against artists like Joy Crookes and Easy Life. Her single ‘Stop This Flame’, released following the this win, was a commercial success, remaining in the singles chart for eight weeks and dominating radio playlists.
“It was a strange time for me as externally lots of exciting things were happening in my life, but internally I was feeling flat. I felt disconnected from myself and the world around me, so I knew something needed to change,” said Celeste of the new track.
“Ultimately the song is about hope and change but knowing that to obtain this requires effort, patience and conviction.”
Celeste has kept fans entertained during the lockdown period with stripped-back performances on The Graham Norton Show, The Big Night In for Children in Need, and featuring on BBC Radio 1s ‘Times Like These’ charity single.
‘I Can See The Change’ is a reminder of her vocal ability and soulful talent, solidifying her place as ‘one to watch’ for this year, and beyond.
