Listen: Radiohead reveal could’ve been Bond track

2015 saw beloved 007 agent James Bond return to the big screens in the franchises latest offering ‘Spectre’. The Bond theme is always a major topic throughout the music world and this year, whilst many were tipped for the role, including Radiohead, the powers that be decided to award the honour to young British solo artist Sam Smith and his song ‘Writing’s On The Wall’. This song divided opinion, with many arguing that it was the worst Bond song to date.

However, on December 25th Thom Yorke took to twitter to announce that Radiohead had been offered the role:

In true Thom Yorke fashion, he decided to offer up a christmas treat by releasing the song for all to hear on soundcloud. Many fans have been quick to voice their opinion in saying that it is a far superior Bond tune to the aforementioned ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, while others admire the song but argue that Radiohead are not a band suited to a Bond theme.

Radiohead also announced earlier this year that they were working on a follow up to 2011’s ‘King Of Limbs’ and that the album could be released in 2016. This latest offering certainly leaves fans eagerly awaiting more.
