There’s certainly a degree of irony in Estrons front-woman Taliesyn Kallstrom proclaiming “My house is clean, my sheets are clean, my life is clean…” over the dirty, fuzzed-out bass line of brand new track ‘Cold Wash’, the second song from their double A-side single of the same name.

Channeling a Death From Above 1979 meets Marmozets kind of energy, you can feel the sweat dripping off the walls of a dingy, crammed club as the chorus kicks in. What sets Estrons apart from the sea of grunge-revival bands coming out of the UK at the moment is the interplay between twangy guitars and the thunderous basslines, not only on ‘Cold Wash’, but across their growing discography. Estrons manage to retain a ferocious, in-your-face sound without descending into amorphous, overly distorted noise, making them one of the most exciting young rock bands on the rise.
