The Big Moon may have overshot Valentines by a great deal, but they’re delving into romance on new number ‘Cupid’. Loud and bold, it’s built on the folk rumblings of the late Dry The River and injects their Fleetwood Mac feel with clattering metallic guitars that HAIM would never dare go near. Sitting atop this are several lyrically opaque incantations, the best of which: “Pineapple juice/Tropical Rubicon courage.” Frankly a mess of styles, but a glorious jumble. They’ve also just signed with Fiction Records (Maccabees, Tame Impala), so a debut album can’t be far off.

Having supported some seriously big hitters recently including The Maccabees, Ezra Furman and The Vaccines, The Big Moon are about to set out on their own headline UK tour.
