Ellie Goulding has released the new single ‘Slow Grenade’ from her upcoming double album, Brightest Blue. This will be the fourth album from the pop star following from 2015’s Delirium.
Brightest Blue was originally scheduled for last month, but has been delayed until 17 July.
‘Slow Grenade’ features American singer-songwriter and producer Lauv, who rose to fame after his debut single ‘The Other’ went viral on SoundCloud back in 2015. Besides his own work, Lauv has also written songs for artists such as Demi Lovato and Celine Dion.
The new track follows a string of releases from the upcoming album including ‘Hate Me’ with the late Juice WRLD and ‘Worry About Me’ featuring Diplo and Swae Lee.
Slow Grenade is out now and completes the EG.0 side of my new record. Thank you for allowing me to use my voice in these moments and bring out the fearlessness in my music. Excited to work with @lauvsongs on this one https://t.co/QwFs3ktlX3 #BrightestBlue July 17 💙x pic.twitter.com/1qfm8eT9PC

‘Slow Grenade’ explores the theme of a problematic relationship which builds up with mistakes and negativity. “Waiting, I just keep on waiting for the final curtain ‘cause I just can’t let go of your love” sings Goulding on the first verse of the track.
Goulding co-wrote the song with Lauv and producers Joe Kearns, OzGo and Leland, who have worked with artists such as Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Maroon 5 and Little Mix.
