Matilda Mann has shared her new single ‘As It Is’, along with its accompanying home-filmed video.

Timing is everything and Matilda Mann’s release of the track is perfectly timed to coincide with the Glastonbury weekend. Mann went on to finish in third place in the festival’s Emerging Talent competition and would have been playing at the festival last weekend.

‘As It Is’, is a delicately written song led by a single guitar, discussing how relationships change and fade which once were a challenge but ‘now they’re not so tough to live through’. A trial that many have endured.

Mann writes with an unapologetic honesty and soft, husky vocals. Its sounds as though she wrote the track in her bedroom whilst reminiscing her own experiences; this mirrors up perfectly to the accompanying music video, that oozes nostalgia with a 35mm film aesthetic.

The domestic video was filmed by Stephen Barnes, and directed and edited by Mann herself, whilst in quarantine. It is a simple but pleasing montage of footage that captures the singer-songwriter in different scenes in and around her house, adding to the personal narrative of the track.

The West Londoner has already impressed with her debut EP, If That Makes Sense, which dropped in February. The EP featured the track ‘The Loch Ness Monster’ which subsequently secured her a place on the 2021 Glastonbury stage. It is exciting to see what the rest of the year holds for the twenty-year-old.
